 Questions from a Over-Sized Karter....
Hello everyone, my name is Bob and I'm new to Karting. I've done Boats, Bikes, Race Cars, Airplanes... Karts are the next item on the agenda.
I'm 48, 6'6" and about 255lbs.... not your typical Karter.
It seems the Margay Limo is the biggest chassis readily available... but is this even big enough to fit me?
I know I can run a few different classes, but is there one I can be competitive in, and not just go out to spin laps?
Is one of the TAG class's an option.
Are there similar karters that race LAKC, in my same situation?
Is anyone selling equipment that fits my criteria??
Does anyone have suggestions on which way to go, or not to go!!!
Thanks in advance!!!
Bob

Re: Questions from a Over-Sized Karter....
Well, there is a class for heavy drivers, but its a shifter class, and starting out in a shifter doesn't work out well for most people. Depending on your experience, you may be an exception.
I would suggest starting out in a Rotax or PRD. You'll be overweight for those classes, but once you become good at those, the transition to shifter will be much easier if you decide to go that route.
Get some advice from some of the many tuners that sponsor our series as to which specific chassis is best for a guy your size.

one of the grand masters classes would not be a bad start in tag or run with the big boys in shifter Deluxxe. I think most chassis will accommodate your size. I see some tall guys in most all chassis.

Hi Bob, while I'm only 6'2" I am 245 lbs and have found a few classes where I can still be competitive. Shoot me an email and I'll be happy to share some info with you. Notbob@earthlink.net

Aliso Bob, I have a Margay 1.8 Big Tube Limo you are welcome to try for fitting. I live in Laguna Hills so I would guess "Aliso Bob" may be just down the street. Email me with some contact info and we can go from there. kapdan@cox.netDan Gefis
