 The Dreaded Turn 1
Is the club planning on improving the start and transition into turn one given that we will be racing the awesome, but crash prone, Grand Backwards course?
Gatorz made an attempt at something, but I am not sure what motivated the change or what it was aimed at improving.

what did they change? i would say Dan, probubly not. there really isnt any more crashes than usual. the clockwise way around grande has crashes, except theyre in turn 3, the real turn 1 because turn 1 isnt a definate braking zone. the best tracks (ours, or calspeeds i mean) have straightaways and uturns, switchbacks whatever causes you to be hard on the braks and smooth on the gas creats oppurtunity for passing. fast flowing tracks create follow the fast qualifyer racing, and if your like me, you suck at qualifying and need to race to win, if i can win peace

 Turn 1
I think Gatorz had the punch off cones WAY down at the end of the straight IIRC. They had 4 cones lined up down the straight and did not wave the green until pole reached the last one. The group was slow and bunched up tight. The WHOLE field was on the straight before the green was ever waved. The Sunday race went smooth.
I know the Saturday Masters had an issue on the start. I'm not sure if they pushed the cones back on Sunday or not since I wasn't there on Sat.
I think the key is keep it slow way pass the Start/Finish line and we punch off 75% of the way down the straight. It may not solve everything but at least we are not going 50MPH !!

 exactly
Exactly...can LAKC put the punch off cone down a ways and touch on the subject during the drivers meeting? Maybe you also need cones between the groups to keep the grid in line since the punch off cone is far beyond the S/F line.
I hope we do something.
