Just read on EKN that SKUSA ProkartChallenge is dropping their fee for 2011 - wondering if LAKC is considering in doing something similar - are they?

I really do not think we need to lower our fees since anybody can come out and run their shifter kart at LAKC for an entry fee of less than a hundred bucks. That is an outstanding value especially when you consider the high level competition that we have at our races. Additionally, the KalGard Challenge pays prize money at the end of the season. In 2010, KalGard paid $4,800 in prize money and, depending on participation, we could pay out even more in 2011.

Let's put the fact on the side that I am geared up to race LAKC this year anyways - what is wrong w/ me asking the question, regardless whether I have raced recently or not?

Agreed. Question for you in regards to the Kal-Gard Challenge (will ask here as others may have similar question) - Any concerns if I end up using Motul instead of Kal-Gard? I am just wondering, if I have left over fuel/oil from PKC, can I use it at LAKC as well. And I think you actually provide an option whether one wants to be part of the challenge or not, right ($20 yes or no on the entry from)?

Kal Gard is the spec oil for the series and a bottle of it will be provided to you as it is included in the cost of your entry fee. The spec fuel is VP MS 98L. Running anything else will lead to a DQ.

Greg - so if somone wants to run their shifter at the LAKC events and don't care about points, which will DQ them for the Kal-Gard Challenge (KGC), will they still be grided according to their qualifying position and just not scored for the purpose of the KGC?

Or, are all shifter entrants required to pay the full fee and receive the Kal Gard Spec oil regardless?

Just like any other spec. series including our other classes. You run the spec. oil fuel etc. or you will receive a D.Q. Depending when you are caught will depend on where you will grid or finish. The fuel is not checked every time you hit the track.

ALL shifter entries will have to pay $20.00 more then any other class but will receive one bottle of spec. oil a $20.00 value.

That is the program, tires are open fuel and oil spec.

the bottle of kal gard, while required for shifter guys, was nice to have on hand for race day. one less thing to think about. and its pretty good stuff!

You are right, Kal Gard is good stuff. I was talking with one of the major engine builders at the SuperNats and he said that the Kal Gard lubricated engines look really good during tear-down.
