Post Team Pitts Region 7 results
Team Pitts Performance drivers rise like a phoenix at the PKRA round of the IKF Region 7 Championship Series presented by Bridgestone.
Formula K Raceway, Phoenix, Arizona
Team Pitts Performance made their presence known at the penultimate round of the IKF Region 7 Championship Series presented by Bridgestone the weekend of October 31st – November 1st. With 200 entries spread among the 18 classes Team Pitts Performance took home their share of the loot with one win and 15 top five finishes.

The 12 man squad this weekend was led by the now infamous Team Pitts Performance Kid Kart armada. They never seem to falter, and if one driver isn’t on his game there are 5 more to pick up the ball and run with it. Ethan Barrett, Jerett Tachovsky and Anthony Sawyer all saw the podium this weekend with Barrett scoring pole both days and Sawyer procuring Sunday’s top prize. Saturday action saw Tachovsky and Barrett run for the gold, coming up just short of the win at the finish line. Sunday was more of the same with Sawyer inching out Barrett for the win, and a Team Pitts Performance one-two finish.

Kyle Shriver’s Pitts powered HPV 4 was on fire from the time it unloaded off the trailer. Shriver’s Pitts HPV powered him to two poles, a heat race win, a second place finish,. It also performed perfectly in the Saturday final earning him an on track victory. His Pitts engine got the job done but unfortunately the scales showed him a tenth of a pound light and his win was disallowed.

Tyler Palmer and Jake Craig headed up the charge in HPV 2 and Junior Superbox. Palmer scored a pole, a heat race win and two 2nd place finishes in HPV 2, and capped things off with 2 poles, a prefinal win and 2nd and 3rd place finishes in Junior Superbox. A broken header in Saturday’s HPV 2 race cost Craig a certain podium finish, but his determination on Sunday gain ground and finish 6th. Superbox was a little kinder to Craig with a heat race win and two top five finishes.

The Team Pitts Performance cadet drivers suffered all weekend at the hands of bad luck. If there was a way to buy a break they would have, but even running up front wasn’t safe enough to keep many drivers out of trouble. Slater Stowell posted the best finishes of the crew with two trips to the podium in HPV 1 and Junior 1. Stowell was a key factor in the leading train of cadets all weekend long, but the cards didn’t quite fall in place and he had to settle for 2nd in Saturday’s HPV 1 contest and 3rd on Sunday in Junior 1.

Other Team Pitts Performance drivers in Phoenix were: Christian Brooks, Colton Herta, Chris Trickle, Chase McDaniel, Jonathan Eshom, and Brandon Eshom.

Joining Team Pitts Performance for next month’s series finale in Santa Maria is Brenden Baker. Baker adds more firepower to the already formidable squad of cadet racers. Baker brings with him a solid season to date, but hopes the move will put him back in the winners circle and set the tone for next year.
