This information is being provided by LAKC in order to assist the New Kid Kart Racers and their parents with some of the basics elements involves with the races, equipment, and Technical Requirements and Inspections.

Please keep in mind that even though the Kid Kart class is a Championship Class the primary objective is to have FUN !!!

Safety and Sportsmanship are #1 for the LAKC Kid Kart Program. It is paramount that the parents keep this in mind at all times. Lack of the proper Safety Gear and Kart preparation could keep your child off the track and any unsportsmanlike conduct or language may result in a DQ and removal from the facility.

All racers karts and Helmets must be presented at Pre-Tech prior to all races and will be labeled appropriately when the inspection has been completed / passed – no kart may be put on the track without the Pre-Tech sticker.

Check your kart for loose, damaged, or corroded parts. Pre-tech may help address some of the most visible items.

All Kid Kart Racers must have the Following Safety Gear:

- The Helmet: It must fit properly and have a current SNELL 2000 SA / M, Snell 2005 SA / M, Snell 2005 K or SFI 24.1 Rating and must be a Full-Faced – if you are not sure ask the Pre-Tech Official.
- Neck Collar: All racers must wear a SFI Approved Neck Collar.
- Gloves: All racers must wear gloves.
- Chest Protector: All racers MUST wear and SFI approved Chest Protector. Rib Protectors are reccommended.
- Shoes: All Racers must were appropriate shoes and Socks. Shoes must be Hi-Tops and cover the ankle bone.
- Clothing: An approved full body racing suit is preferred; but at the minimum long sleeve heavy weight leather or Vinyl Jackets and heavy weight long pants – no loose or baggie clothing will be allowed.
- Hair: If the hair is extending beyond the base of the helmet a Head Sock must be worn or hair must be retained within the helmet. Tucking the hair into the suit is not acceptable.

More detailed explanations can be found in the 2009 IKF rule book. Page 30 Section Drivers Clothing.

If your child is racing for the first time they will have to place an “Xâ€
