Just in case you haven't heard the DeluXXe class will earn Prize $$$$$, read the following:

LAKC is pleased to announce that Kal-Gard Lubricants has renewed their sponsorship of the Shifter Classes for the 2011 Season and has agreed to include the new Honda DeluXXe class in the program. The prize money will be paid out at the 2011 awards banquet with the following guaranteed minimum amount for each of the 3 shifter classes:

First: $700
Second: $500
Third: $300

Once we hit 225 total shifter entries during the season, the guaranteed amounts will start to increase with the prize fund of $4500 going up by $20 per additional entry. This is a little different from the way we did it last year and we will keep you posted regarding the total size of the prize fund as the season progresses.

Post Minimum Driver Weight / DeluXXe Shifter Class
question from Ekarting message board.

Is there a minimum drivers weight?

ET: I don't believe so but I wanted the response of the LAKC BOD before posting to the karting world.

Looking forward to your response.

Post Happy New Years
I hope the New Years is bright for all!

New Years day, I decided to rent a Van and take my family up to the snow, Wrightwood, California and lets just say that the smiles and the excitement of the kids became contagious.

fast forward: as I rocked back in forth at the top of the hill,on the DeluXXE size alumunum trashcan-top purchased from Home Depot and waxed for performance, I looked down a 50 yard hill and 60 people including family members cheering me on and counted down to launch. TEn- NINE- EIGHT- SEVEN - - - - - -

Now keep in mind that - This was not an ordinary trash can top, this is one from the old school, some of yall might remember the ones that had handles on the trash cans, well this trash can top was industrial strenght (DeluXXe) and has handles on the lid as well. O-Yea Baby! and The friday night before, I stopped at Sports Challet, so they could take me to the limit!(insert commercial adverstisng song hear) and got a nice thick wax coat applied to the bottom of the Pulp Racing Snow Disc. O Yea-Baby

the count down contining SIX-- FIVE -- FOUR--

I check my Beany, check my jacket zipper

THREE---
my DeluXXe disc is now in completely in rhtyme with the chanting of the count down and the crowd which has grown to over 75 people by this time.

TWO--
and then, it happened,
SILENCE
AND THEN: the voice of reason,
(ALWAYS IN MY FATHERS VOICE: YOU KNOW YOU AREN'T AS YOUNG AS YOU USTA BE AND YOU NEED TO DRIVE THE FAMILY HOME AFTER THIS TRIP, START OFF SLOW AND ROLL OVER AFTER THE FIRST BUMP)

I looked behind me and there were another 10 guys giving me the thumbs up!!!

ONE - - GO!!!!!!
and I launched

The DeluXXE Snow Disc began to pick up speed,
I leaned to the left, the disc went left,
I lean to the right, and the disc when right.

the sound of the packed snow under the aluminum begins to chatter,
I hit the first bump, land and still on driving line,
the chattering of the lid and the snow get louder,
the wind begins to blow by my ears, with a whistling sound.
I look up and the crowd is going wild,

Then it happend again, The voice of my Father, but this time is wasn't talking to me, it was yelling, Bell-off, Bell-off.

I look to the right where I had place a trash-bag to mark the next big bump. I'ld seen 3 people hit this and the disc fly from underneath them so I lean forward. . .
the sound of the lid and the snow become even loader
I lean to the left, the lid goes left,
I adjust to the right
The DeluXXE Lid goes right,
the sound of the lid and the snow are now harmony to my ears,

THEN SILENCE ----------------
NOT A SOUND----------------
ALL I HEAR IN THE WIND AS MY BEANY EJECTS FROM MY HEAD---------

AND THEN IMPACT . . . . THE ALUMINUM AND THE SNOW - BANG, BANG, BANG, I LOOK UP AND EVERYONE IS GONE- - - - WTF?

I still hear the cheers, so I begin to lean to the right
I rotate the DeluXXE powered disc around
to view, men, women, kids and dogs scattering.

The momentum of the Pulp Racing DeluXXE Prototype Disc was impressive, too impressive as I should have discussed the ratio of speed/rate of travel with a NASA engineer as I was still sliding,
I could still hear the wind buzzing by my ears. . . . .

After I hit the snow bank ane 1 parked car, the doctor has diagnosed me with a right shoulder/contusion/ sprain and a slight rotator cuff tear.

I'm glad it wasn't my left arm because I need that to hold the steering while I shift into 5th gear. SEE YALL AT THE FIRST RACE ON FEB 13TH!

Happy New Year!
