Pitts-5 wins 20 top 5 finishes IKF Region 7 Buffalo Bills
Team Pitts Performance Goes All In at Buffalo Bills Resort and Casino
March 12th, 2010. Van Nuys, Ca
Team Pitts Performance is always a good bet at any race, but this past weekends results at the IKF Region 7 Championship Series presented by Bridgestone had nothing to do with luck. Great preparation, fast engines, and fabulous drivers all came together for round 3 of the series at Primm, Nevada in the back lot of the Buffalo Bills Resort and Casino. Team Pitts Performance struck it rich with 6 wins, 20 top 5’s, and a podium sweep both days in Kid Karts.
Jake Craig led the way for Team Pitts Performance and drew 4 of a kind, sweeping the Junior 2 action with 4 wins on the weekend. Craig and his 00 prove that just like on the American roulette table 00 adds an extra advantage to the house. Coming off a strong run in Phoenix Craig, once again proved be belonged in the no limit room. Craig’s PRD is the stuff of dreams as he has gone four straight wins in the Junior class with his Phil Carlson Pitts Performance PRD. Craig was dealt two pair in KPV2 this weekend overcoming adverse track conditions to run the table Saturday and Sunday in the premier Junior 2 events.
Team Pitts Performance Kid Kart drivers are always the odds on favorite at any event. This weekend the field of IKF’s most youthful members was made up primarily of Team Pitts Performance drivers. Both days event saw Team Pitts Performance sweep the top five podium positions. History was made as the brothers Waterman doubled down, splitting wins Saturday and Sunday. Saturday action saw Pitts driver Myles Farhan earn the pole position only to surrender it to Braden Waterman in the prefinal. Braden got the drop on the field to start the final and he never looked back on his way to his first IKF Kid Kart win. The rest of the Kid Kart class was left fighting for 2nd place. Hayden Wagner, Hudson Morrow, Carson Enright and Dezel West all dueled for the final podium positions. Sunday saw Braden score the pole over Farhan. The prefinal was the first class to have rain and it jumbled up the field, but Braden held on for the win. After moving up from his 3rd place qualifying position Bryson Waterman finished the prefinal in 2nd place and we had an all Waterman front row. Bryson rocketed out of the gates to start the final trailed by his brother and Farhan. When your name has water in it you better perform well when it is wet. Bryson and Braden put ten seconds on the pack to score a Waterman 1-2 finish, with younger brother 5-year-old Bryson getting his first IKF win. Farhan was best of the rest and finished in 3rd place with Morrow and Enright completing the top five. Luis Ortiz and Tommy Trickle also flew the Pitts banner high with each scoring well in the points.
Junior 1 action saw solid performances turned in by Colton Herta, Christian Brooks and Jake Drew. The Team Pitts Performance trio pulled the lever and came up with 6 top five finishes including two 2nds and a 3rd. With good qualifying runs turned in by all three drivers it was no surprise to see them stay up front in both the wet and dry conditions. Brooks came within two tenths of scoring his first IKF win in Saturday’s Junior 1 race. His 2nd and 3rd place finishes will turn into a first place soon enough for the driver of the #34 BA1. Herta tasted victory back at Buttonwillow and Santa Maria and wants to be back on top. Look for Herta at Grangé to leave with at least one win. Cadet newcomer Anthony Sawyer earned a top ten finish, while fellow Pitts driver Chris Trickle finished 14th in Sunday’s KPV1 race.
